The National Academy of Family Law Attorneys is devoted to recognizing the top family law attorneys in the nation. Through a stringent selection process--including peer reviews, client reviews, length of time in family law practice, case outcomes, trail outcomes and experiences, education, family law teaching experience, and awards for legal performance.
Attorneys that make the list "have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of knowledge, skill, experience, expertise and success in their practice of family law."
Since its inception in 1983, Best Lawyers in America has been widely regarded as a reliable guide to recognizing legal excellence.
Based on a thorough peer-review survey, attorneys recognize the abilities of other attorneys in their practice areas. As lawyers do not pay a fee to be listed or included, being chosen is considered a high honor.

DAVID JAMES
The American Institute’s Family Law Division recognizes excellence of practitioners in the field, compiling an exclusive list of the “10 Best” Attorneys for each State. The “10 Best” is a prestigious honor for an attorney for he must "have attained the highest degree of professional achievement in his or her field of law," and have done so with "an impeccable Client Satisfaction rating."
American Institute’s Family Law Division looks for attorneys that have achieved unparalleled success but, most importantly, have done so for the benefit of their client. The rating system helps clients throughout the United States make educated decisions when it comes to choosing their attorney.
David was recognized in 2017 as being one of the "10 Best" in Family Law.
NAFLA’s Board of Governors awards this distinction annually to only the Top 10 Family attorneys under the age of 40 within the state. Criteria include client and peer reviews, length of time practicing family law, trial experience and case outcomes, published articles and legal awards.
