L.C. James graduated first in his law school class at the University of Mississippi Law School in 1973, and has been practicing family law for approximately 45 years in the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area.
Mr. James obtained the earliest possible highest rating of “AV” in the Martindale-Hubbell law directory, and he has been listed in all 26 editions of the prestigious publication of Best Lawyers in America since its inception over 35 years ago through the present date.
Mr. James has received numerous awards in the area of family law. A few of the other professional awards and recognition of expertise in family law received by Mr. James include “Super Lawyers of the South” and national recognition as a “Top 10 Attorney” from the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys.
In 2019, Mr. James won the "Top 10 Attorney Award" for Excellence in the field of Family Law.
DANNA O'BRIEN
PARTNER
Originally from New Orleans, Danna A. O’Brien graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, and then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate in 1998. While at the University of Mississippi Law School, Danna was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association. Danna joined James & Associates in 1998, and was elevated to Partner in 2007.
Danna is currently a member of the Mississippi Bar and its Family Law Section, the American Bar Association and its Family Law Section, and the Madison County Bar Association. Danna was also a member of the Charles Clark Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He has been a member of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association, where he served as Chairman of the tutoring program for the Boys & Girls Club in Jackson.
Danna is also a frequent CLE speaker including at the Mississippi Family Law Hot Tips Seminar, as well as a co-speaker for Divorce Law 101: Obtaining the Best Settlement for Your Client in Mississippi. He was also named by his peers as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" in 2015.
He lives in Jackson with his wife and two children.
DAVID JAMES
PARTNER
Originally from Clinton, David E. James graduated from Mississippi State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. From there, he attended the University of Mississippi Law School, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2003.
David has been a speaker at the Mississippi Family Law Annual Hot Tips Seminar numerous times. He is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Mississippi, Federal Courts for the Northern and Southern District of Mississippi, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2017, David was named by the American Institute of Family Law Lawyers as one of the "10 Best Attorneys" for Client Satisfaction, in providing "Exceptional and Outstanding Client Service."
In 2014, the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys named David as a "Top 10 Under 40" attorney for his "excellence in the field of Family Law."
David lives in Madison with his wife and two children.
